Opportunityfoods.com is a multivendor food marketplace built on WordPress, WooCommerce and the WCFM Marketplace platform — multiple vendors, one storefront, with vendor storefront pages, commissions and order routing handled by WCFM. My role was to customize the marketplace beyond what WCFM offers out of the box, starting with the feature that matters most in food commerce: trust.
The challenge: vendor trust in a food marketplace
Out of the box, WCFM ties product reviews to individual products only. A shopper deciding whether to order from a vendor had no way to see that vendor’s overall reputation — ratings were scattered across dozens of product pages. For a marketplace where buyers try unfamiliar vendors, that missing signal costs sales.
What I built
- Vendor-profile review integration — a dedicated reviews section on every vendor storefront aggregating all product reviews for that vendor, with ratings, comments and sorting
- Seamless WCFM integration — implemented as an update-safe extension of WCFM Marketplace, matching its interface so vendors and shoppers experience one coherent platform
- AJAX-powered UX — review loading and sorting handled with JavaScript/jQuery so browsing reviews never reloads the page
- Marketplace customization groundwork — WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP and CSS/HTML work that keeps the marketplace maintainable as WCFM and WooCommerce update
The result
Shoppers can now judge a vendor’s reputation at a glance on the vendor’s own storefront — ratings, written reviews and sortable history in one place. Vendor trust became a visible, competitive feature of the marketplace rather than something buried in product pages.
